Great show guys.
I think I enjoyed Prometheus similar to Bob, although I agree with all of John points. Maybe my low expectations helped raise my enjoyment on the book.
As for Captain Britain, I dropped the book after the SI tie-in issues. I thought the book started out really strong, but thought the last part was week. But, this week I heard so much buzz on how this book is one of the best books Marvel puts out, so I went to a LCS and purchased the issues for the 2nd story arc. I still didn't click for me and I thought the story was ok. I agree with you guys that the villain was week. My other problem I have is that except for Captain Britain, I really have no attachment or history with these characters and therefore showing me their dreams or desires really didn't click with me. I won't pre-order the next story arc either and wait until I hear about the arc.

This fell into the category of a book that I both enjoyed and was fairly disappointed by. I was wanting them to show us why Prometheus is this great A-list super villain instead of just telling us he was yet again.HassanT wrote:Great show guys.

I think it was the gratuitous and needless maiming of Gunfire and the way Anima was used (yet again) as a throw away character for that really underscored how much better this comic should have been than it was. Is taking out a couple of characters many current comic book readers are unfamiliar with really a good way to show how dangerous Prometheus is? Gunfire and Anima each had a solos series back in 1994-1995 and have each appeared maybe a time or two since then. I'm not saying these are great characters. Anima wasn't but Gunfire could have been salvaged in a team book. My point is that "defeating" obscure characters like them doesn't increase the perceived threat level of the villain. Especially since this guy fought the entire JLA in his first appearance.
The Wisdom miniseries is worth picking up if you want the essential back story on these characters. It was a really good read.HassanT wrote: As for Captain Britain, I dropped the book after the SI tie-in issues. I thought the book started out really strong, but thought the last part was week. I loved Prometheus. I thought the book was a 5 and it even prompted me to go and buy some issues of Blood Pack, Anima and Argus. I also loved the Grudy book as well. I hope the others are just as good as these to.
I am behind in Captain Britain but I am enjoying what I read so far and am looking forward to what I think is coming based on the solicitations.
I am going to ask DCBS for Love and Capes so I can try it out.
Newsarama had I kill Giants #1 online edition for free. I read it and it was just not for me but I can see why some people are loving it.

I liked Gunfire much better than Anima or Argus. If you haven't read the Gunfire series, you might want to check it out.comicm wrote:I loved Prometheus. The Grundy issue was better than I expected and has me interested in the miniseries. But, unless I get an income stream going sooner, I'll be skipping the Grundy miniseries.
By all means, pick up Love and Capes. I can't recommend it highly enough. If you like one issue, you'll like them all. It is a remarkably consistent title.
While I don't regret reading I Kill Giants, I wouldn't mind having the money I spent on it available to spend on things more to my liking. If the first issue didn't click with you, skipping it was a good call.
I did order Gunfire as well but forgot to mention it. I meant to order Loose Cannon but must have added it to my want list instead of buy list by accident. I really did enjoy the Bloodlines Annuals but I never picked these spin offs up with the exception of Hitman and I loved that one.
